formed in 2024, thenlike?now consists of victoria donaldson (bassoon) & benjamin damann (percussion). their shared affinity for the avant-garde & experimental, whether in the realms of contemporary classical or metal, have led them to explore new opportunities together. as a duo, they are committed to collaborating with living composers to realize new works for bassoon, percussion, & electronics. having commissioned five composers of varying backgrounds and aesthetics, thenlike?now is presenting their inaugural program, nature, noise, & echoes of the past at colleges & universities throughout texas, oklahoma, & arkansas.
bassoonist victoria donaldson loves collaborating with other musicians & exploring the extended range of her instrument. an alumna of unt’s center woodwind quintet, victoria is thrilled to be a part of thenlike?now to continue in her chamber endeavors & to share another side to the bassoon’s repertoire with audiences.
percussionist benjamin damann enjoys realizing experimental works for solo snare drum & multi-percussion as well as programming software interfaces to aid in the performance of such works. he has commissioned & premiered fourteen works over the course of his ongoing snippets project.
